Miami

Dwyane Wade's Big Stage

Dwyane Wade is not fragile but he is human and he does play a tough brand of basketball, a brand that can get you hurt faster than you can get your shot off. How much rigor can his body withstand?

And given that he is essentially the only Heat star not named Shaq, how will Miami do if he finds himself injured for an extended period of time?

He was injured several times this past season but always bounced back quickly. He's a quick healer and one of the toughest players in the league. And though international competition may not be as painful in some ways as the NBA, it is in other ways a lot more physical. Fouls away from the ball tend not to be called. Little pushes and shoves are ignored.

Fortunately, there are only 2.75 games left. As I write this, the USA and Spain are tied at 25 after one quarter. Wade played 3 minutes, got one assist, one turnover, and one foul, and missed one shot.

It would be foolish to write him off at this point. All we can do is hope he doesn't get injured.
